Timber Features & Origin |
||||
|
Having a reputation as one of the world’s largest cedars, this fine timber is renown in the industry for its stability,
durability and variation in grain and colour, making it the most suitable timbers for blind making.
Cedar’s natural preservative oils make it highly resistant to the effects of time and weather and extremely suitable for
Australian climate conditions. Imported to Australia in log form from large managed plantations in North America and British Columbia, the timber is
kiln dried, (using the vertical grain to resist warping) and micro sanded before going through the lengthy process of
becoming a blind. |

| Finishes | ||||
| Not only is Western Red Cedar one of the most stable timbers available, it also offers beautiful grains, which can be
highlighted when the timber is oiled, lacquered or stained, retaining uniqueness that not only protects its surface but
enhances its beauty. Dial a Blind offers an extensive range of finishes that will give warmth and serenity to any interior décor, modern or contemporary. |

| Maintenance & Care | ||||
| We at Dial a Blind believe that blinds should be treated like a piece of furniture rather than just another window
covering, and the required maintenance for Cedar blinds depends highly on the care and attention given as well as the
amount of sunlight exposure the blind receives. Scandinavian Oil finishes may need re-oiling between 2 and 6 years. This will give the timber a rejuvenated look and smell, and helps prevent discolouration. Water, household cleaners or other substances should NOT be used for this type of finish. Clear lacquer, stained clear lacquer and painted finishes in a normal environment require virtually no maintenance other than dusting or a careful wipe with a damp cloth or mild household cleaner. This will keep your blind looking and feeling new during its entire life cycle. Re-staining, lacquering or re-painting is NOT required for these types of finishes. |
